Crawl Line
Crawl Line
At the mouth of Indian River there are some grass flats where ducks and other birds often hang out. Being a nice day, I thought it would be interesting to try and sneak up on some ducks sleeping on a log across the flats from me. A lighter colored line of vegetation shows where I crawled up behind the stump across a small inlet from the sleeping ducks (but still too far yet for a good picture with my camera). Shortly after I got behind the stump the ducks woke up and acted alarmed. They settled down after several seconds, then perked up again and flew off. When I got up and turned around I saw to my delight a woman several yards behind me with a dog lunging at the end of a leash in the direction of the departing ducks. Time elapsed from beginning the crawl till duck dispersal: One hour.
