Interested in College in Alaska?

Salix reticulata(?)

I think this is the same species that I photographed earlier in the hike, but clearly it is much further along in its flowering cycle. The cottony material presumably holds the seeds and allows them to be dispersed by wind (and perhaps animals, if they use it for nesting material).

Location: Starrigavan Ridge, near Sitka, Alaska

Previous: Clubmoss (Lycopodium sp.)
