American Dipper
Cinclus mexicanus

I was watching this dipper as it caught food near the riverbank where I was sitting. Although it acted wary of me at first, it seemed to have accepted my presences and was getting closer to me when it suddenly flew off upstream chittering. I was wondering if I had done something to alarm it, when just a few seconds later I noticed a man start wading into the river a little downstream of where I was (and the dipper had been). This made me think that perhaps the dipper had sensed him coming and was responding to his approach.
