28 July 98
Jonathan and I went up Verstovia. It was the first time I had ever gone
up to the main (3300+ feet) peak. the sun was shining brightly which ended up
causing slight sunburn for both of us. It was nice that there was a good
breeze, otherwise it would probably have been uncomfortably warm.
As we were resting near the top of peak 2550, we saw a couple of flares from
near the mouth of Silver Bay. I am not sure why they were shot.
There were many blue flowers as
we neared the top of the main peak. I think they were a kind of gentian,
perhaps. Broad-Petalled Gentian, most likely. I took a few pictures, though
I think the bright light probably washed out the color somewhat.
