Middle Sister

The route to the top looked pretty rotten and most of us decided not to summit. While we waited for Mark, Jason, and John to get back from the summit, I took this picture of the Middle Sister. As it turned out, it was probably a good thing that most of us did not go to the summit. While they were gone, the clouds started to blow in (it was already quite windy) and the sun began to shine more directly on the patch of snow which can be seen at the lower left of this picture. Had we all gone up, we would probably have taken long enough that the snow we had to cross would have been much softer and we would have been caught in the clouds with very limited vision. Since none of us had been up the North Sister before, that could have made getting down safely to summit.
