Birch Creek Road
The signs say that Birch Creek Road is steep and very slippery when wet. Four wheel drive is recommended. I have been told that the road is impassable in the winter and early spring with the ground is still saturated. Access to the Owyhee River at the bottom of the grade is therefore limited to about 7 months a year. A caretaker and his wife live in a house along the river. Some years they do not see anyone for 5 months.
