Red-Breasted Sapsucker
Sphyrapicus ruber

At first, I did not see this bird, but as I walked by, I thought I heard some knocking that sounded like a woodpecker. I listened more carefully and was able to figure out where it was coming from. There appear to be two or three holes that have been significantly excavated. I will have to check back to see if there ends up being a nest here.
