Black-bellied Plover
Pluvialis squatarola
The birds seemed inclined to walk around feeding up on the beach, so I chose a spot in the middle and hoped they might see fit to come somewhat close. For a few minutes they stayed well away from me, but then someone else came out on the beach talking on a cell-phone and at that point I became the lesser concern. This photo was taken as one of the birds moved along the beach past me in order to put more distance between itself and the other person.
