Siberian Miner's Lettuce

I took this picture while hiking on the Harbor Mountain-Gavan Ridge trail the 4 June 1998. It was growing along the trail in what I would consider the lower edge of the alpine.

Thank you to LeCinda LeFore, a native plant enthusiast who saw this page and suggested that this plant looked like Siberian Miner's Lettuce. When I looked it up in one of my books, it appeared to match, though it was not obvious to me at first due to the angle that this picture was taken as compared to that of the pictures in the book.

LeCinda also mentioned that the leaves of this plant can be eaten in a pinch, and the leaves and flowers are both good crushed on a fresh injury to remove bruising and help stop swelling.
