Cloudberry
Rubus chamaemorus
The cloudberry is a small member of the raspberry (Rubus) which grows in bogs throughout the state. Its flower is white and the berry starts out red and turns a yellow to amber color when mature. The berry can be eaten and is said by some to taste like baked apples (hence one of its common names is baked apple berry) though I cannot say I have noticed the similarity.
This picture was taken in a muskeg in Indian River Valley around the first week in July 1998.
