Cooley's Buttercup
Ranunculus cooleyae
This is a not so great picture of the buttercup gone to seed. The stalk apparently grows longer after the flowers are gone, as all of the flowers I have seen are on very short stems. Presumably this aids in dispersion via snagging on animals.
